Parliament has today set the dates for the nomination of candidates and election of Uganda’s representatives to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA). Clerk to Parliament, Jane Kibirige, has set Monday and Tuesday next week as dates for the nominations and Wednesday May 30, as the date for the election of the regional MPs.
Former Luwero Woman Member of Parliament Rebecca Nalwanga has been sued for alleged failure to clear a bank loan worth over 222 million shillings she obtained from the bank. The bank in its complaint contends that on May 19 last year, Nalwanga, who was then the Luwero Woman MP, applied for a loan amounting to 230 million shillings.
Embattled Bukoto South legislator, Muyanja Mbabaali, has again run to court seeking an interim order blocking the delivery of tomorrow’s ruling on his election petition appeal.
