Local leaders in Buseruka Sub County, Hoima district are expressing concern over rampant accidents on the Hoima-Kaiso road, now under construction. The 92-kilometre road that connectsto the Kaiso-Tonya oil fields in Buseruka Sub County has been under construction since 2012. About 70percent of the road is now under tarmac.
The judge may choose to disqualify himself from the case or continue to hear the application. If justice Nyanzi decides to stick on the case, the attorney general will then have to appeal the matter in the court of appeal.
Police Director of Operations Grace Turyagumanawe has noted that Police force will deploy heavily ahead of the three-day visit of Buganda King Ronald Muwenda Mutebi to Kayunga-Bugerere. The visit is the first since October 2009, when Kabaka Mutebi was blocked from visiting Bugerere sparking off riots in different parts of Buganda. Ironically, Turyagumanawe was at the centre of the fracas involving the police and Kabaka Mutebiâ€™s advance team led by the then Katikkiro JB Walusimbi.
The interdiction of the officials follows a directive from the inspectorate general of government arising from criminal case number ACD-CSC 211/2011, which is before the anti corruption court in Kampala.
Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC) is making steady progress in its struggle to attain accreditation from African Association of Zoos and Aquariums. Uganda applied for accreditation last year and hopes to get it during the meeting of the association which it is also hosting in May this year.
Last week, the Attorney General Peter Nyombi sent a copy of the agreement for the return of kingdom assets to King Oyo. A member of the kingdom negotiating team who preferred anonymity told Uganda Radio Network that after consulting his advisors and legal team, King Oyo told his Prime Minister, Omuhikirwa Steven Kaliba, to return the agreement to the government and ensure that itâ€™s amended and the assets in Kasese and Bundibugyo are included.
