Katunguka says the university may have committed errors on the transcripts that do not warrant allegations of wrong degrees being issued. The errors, he says, were limited to 10 students and that the university has recalled the students to correct the transcripts.
The arrested individuals were netted in an operation mounted by the flying squad. Some of them have been identified as Baker Kawooya, Charles Mwesigwa alias Murefu, Ssemanda Bakari, and Wycliffe Mujuni. They are part of a racket believed to have masterminded the attack.

This is the first time the board is getting a huge budget increment several years. In the 2013/2014 UTB had been earmarked to receive two billion shillings. In the 2012/2013 budget, it received 600 million shillings.
