MPs Indicted Over Failure to Account for Travel Funds 2

URN has established that the indicted MPs include; Army MP Elly Tumwine, Jinja East MP Moses Balyeku, Kajara County Stephen Tashobya, Mugabi Bakka, Robert Ssebunya Kibirige, Jane Ocheng, and Arua Municipality Gabriel Ajedra. They failed to account for funds ranging between Ugx 6 and Ugx 21 million.

Drama as MPs Welcome Mbabazi to The Back Bench 3 1

At 3:21pm Mbabazi pulled over in the parking lot of Parliament being driven in a Toyota Land Cruiser registration number UAS 969J. Police officers on duty stood up and saluted him. Northern Youth MP Evelyn Anite showed him which route to take as Mbabazi smiled and complied. At 3:31pm Mbabazi entered the House. A standing ovation ensued on the floor of Parliament. Leader of Opposition Cecilia Ogwal moved a motion that Mbabazi be welcomed to the backbench. Oulanyah ruled Ogwal out of order saying there is nothing on the floor to debate about.

Nsenga Widow Jailed 20 years for Husbands Murder domestic violence

The sentence followed an earlier submission by Defence lawyers who asked court for a lenient sentence for the convict who was facing a possible maximum death sentence, saying she was the only surviving parent of their two children. The judge said he considered the 1 and a half year period the convict had spent on remand.

Conjoined Twins Born In Soroti Hospital siamese twins 1 2

A 19-year-old woman in Soroti district has given birth to conjoined twins. The twins, both girls, arrived on Monday night after a caesarean operation. Dr. Emmanuel Batiibwe, the director Soroti Regional Referral Hospital, told reporters that the twins were conjoined from the waist with each facing the opposite direction.

Africa's Hydro Power Potential Underutilised - Experts hydropower 2 Top story

While many African states grapple with insufficient electricity, more than 90% of the continent's hydro power potential remains unutilised. Uganda, whose electrification rate stands at less than 15%, sits on 3,000 Megawatts hydro capacities, according to John Rao Nyaoro, the Executive Director of the Nile Basin Initiative. Nyaoro says that 15 billion cubic metres of the Nile water is unutilised.

Ten female minors suffering from the debilitating nodding syndrome in Pader district have been defiled within the last three weeks. According to Caritas, a Catholic charity organization working to protect children in the district, some of the perpetrators have since been apprehended and remanded at Kineni government Prison.

The UGX 780m System uses a siren notification system to warn people about raising water levels. It is comprised of three main components of a sensor that is placed in the river, a solar powered siren mounted on a long wooden pole adjacent to the river and a Control Centre positioned at the district headquarters about 15 kilometers with computers which are a backup for monitoring the performance of the siren system.
