Kanungu Pilgrims Recount 13-Day Journey to Namugongo kanungu district 3 1

Pilgrims from Kanungu district, who are among the first to arrive at Namugongo this week, have recounted their 13-day-journey, sharing stories of faith, perseverance and dedication. The pilgrims, comprising of 17 men and 30 women, walked the 450km journey to attend this years Uganda Martyrs Day celebrations. The journey started at 3am on May 16 at Makiro Deanery in Kanungu town council and climaxed at 7pm on Monday, May 30 at Namungongo Shrine.

A pilgrim from Lira district has collapsed and died on her way to Namugongo Shrine to celebrate this years Martyrs Day. According to Samuel Okwir Odwe, the Moroto County Member of Parliament, Scovia Moro, died at about 11:00am when the pilgrims had just reached Matugga trading centre in Wakiso District.

Louis Omara, a resident of Okwalongwen village, Amwoma Sub County in Dokolo District reportedly hit his father, Peter Ocen, three times on the fore head. He was rushed to Dokolo Health Center IV where he was admitted and later pronounced dead. Doctors say he died from excessive bleeding.
