Makerere Admits 16000 Private Students makerere university 1

Makerere University has admitted over 16,000 students in its direct entry private scheme for the 2017/2018 academic year. Charles Ssentongo, the Deputy Academic Registrar the academic year begins on August 12. Speaking to URN today after the release of the list, Ssentongo said that all students admitted on private programmes shall begin picking their admission letters on Friday, July 28.

Chief Justice Intervenes in MP Kahonda's Bail Hearing justice eva luswata 1 Top story

A directive by Chief Justice Bart Katureebe is behind the fast-tracking of the bail application hearing for Ruhinda County MP Dononzio Kahonda, URN has learnt. Jinja Chief Magistrate John Francis Kaggwa on June 7th convicted the embattled legislator and sentenced him to nine months in jail for forgery. His bail application, initially fixed for August 16th, was brought forward to July 13th. Another hearing was set on July 24th due to a strike by state prosecutors over low pay.

In September 1955, Sir George David Matthew Kamurasi Rukidi III, the 11th king of Tooro, purchased the organ from Leeds in the United Kingdom and donated it to the cathedral. Engravings on the organ indicate that it was built in 1945 by Positive Organ, a company based in the United Kingdom. Makerere Resumes Issuance of Transcripts makerere university 1 Top story

Makerere University has resumed issuing academic transcripts almost four months after the system was closed amidst reports of marks alteration. In April, the university closed the online results system it uses to enter and store students examination scores and suspended the issuance of academic transcripts due to alleged fraud. Academic Registrar Alfred Namoah sent results for all the 14,897 students that graduated in February back to their respective colleges/schools for verification before transcripts are processed.

Nakaseke Landlord Attacked By Angry Tenants land probe 2 5

A meeting called by area legislators degenerated into chaos when angry tenants attacked the landlord and beat him in protest of what they called land grabbing and torture.
