This is according to a report on the status of corruption in the region compiled by the Rwenzori Anti-Corruption Coalition. The report released on Friday shows that more than 40 pieces of land belonging to the government have either been encroached on or illegally sold off. Most of the land is in forest reserves, schools and health facilities.

The study, titled Citizens Perceptions on the Proposed Amendment of Article 102b of the Constitution was commissioned by Citizens Coalition on Electoral Democracy CEEDU and Uganda Governance Monitoring Platform UGMP. It sampled 50,429 citizens in 80 constituencies across the country. It covered 22,926 females and 27,503 male respondents.
