Ibanda District Declares Quarantine after Fresh Outbreak of Swine Fever

Now authorities have ordered all pork joints to close, as they investigate the magnitude of the outbreak and devise means of addressing the problem. Under the quarantine, the district authorities have restricted the movement of pigs and consumption of pork. The move comes barely weeks after the authorities in the area revealed that the disease had been contained after it had killed over 200 pigs in the area following an outbreak in July 2019.
