Rt. Rev. Dr. Stephen Kazimba Mugalu assumed the leadership of Church of the Uganda (CoU) on March 1, 2020. He was enthroned as the 9th Archbishop of Church of the Uganda (CoU) at a colorful ceremony held at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Namirembe.
Three councilors have expressed interest in the seat. They include Doreen Nyanjura, the Forum for Democratic Change- FDC party official candidate, Abubakar Kawalya also from FDC and their ruling National Resistance Movement-NRM party rival, Bruhan Byaruhanga.
Silver Kyomuhendo, a science teacher at the government aided Bubukwanga secondary school in Bubukwanga Sub County, explains that her school hasn’t received some teaching guide and materials like text books from the Ministry as planned. She says to resolve this problem they have been forced to start WhatsApp where they can share the material.
Shortly after his enthronement, Dr. Kazimba says his service is a call to the Ministry of "Conversion of the Head, Conversion of the Heart and Conversion of the Hand" derived from the book of Jeremiah Chapter 17:9-10.

Shortly after taking Oath, Dr. Kamunyu listed ten issues, which he said will be his key areas of focus. Kamunyu, who was overwhelmingly returned after serving six-months suspension from the university, says the past two years at the helm of the association have educated him and given him a lot of satisfaction.
