Rev. Canon William Ongeng, the Provincial Secretary of the Church of Uganda, observes that over time various denominations, particularly Pentecostals, have been wearing the Church of Uganda’s vestments, which has led to confusion among followers and misuse of these items.
A detective involved in the investigation, who requested anonymity, revealed that illegal power connections are often used as campaign tools by some politicians in the Busoga sub-region. These politicians, having failed to fulfill their promises, allegedly support power theft to alleviate pressure from their political opponents.
Eyewitnesses, speaking on condition of anonymity, reported that the bomb explosion killed three children and injured six others, including a pregnant woman. The injured were quickly transported to Minova for medical treatment.
The bomb squad was observed on Monday extracting samples from the wreckage and reviewing social media videos taken at the scene to gather evidence. They also interacted with eyewitnesses who provided crucial information about the incident and their efforts to rescue occupants from the flames.
Pheona Nabasa Wall, the Executive Director at LEAD, says that governance issues like misappropriation and corruption are sometimes not because of intention to commit an offense, but out of the lack of skill or preparation for a task.
According to Obed Ambikiize, the Assistant Resident District Commissioner for Kagadi, the arrests were prompted by numerous complaints from the public. The suspects allegedly extorted between 100,000 to 400,000 Ugandan Shillings from each individual seeking to benefit from the PDM program.
Rusooke emphasized the potential for disorder due to the lack of transparency in the event's organization. "Given the lack of transparency and potential for disorder, the police strongly warn against proceeding with this march," he stated.
“The latest trends demonstrate that many countries continue to miss far too many children,” said UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell. “Closing the immunization gap requires a global effort, with governments, partners, and local leaders investing in primary healthcare and community workers to ensure every child gets vaccinated, and that overall healthcare is strengthened.”
Speaking at the seminary's 23rd-anniversary festivities over the weekend, Fr. Kisamba stated that they urgently need over 1 billion shillings to build a large chapel that can accommodate hundreds of seminarians. They hope to complete the project by June 30th, 2026, in time for the seminary's 25th anniversary.
Uganda currently produces 80,000 metric tons of vegetable oil, yet approximately 410,000 tons are required to meet domestic demand. This has seen the government turning to imports over the years to meet the local demands.
