Power supply to Bugiri General Hospital has for the last five months been operating without electricity after it was disconnected over an accumulated bill of over 100 million Shillings.
Pupils whose parents have not registered for national identification cards risk being left out in the upcoming registration exercise in schools. Michael Muganga, the National Identification Registration Authority-NIRA deputy Public Relations Officer says that all students will be required to carry a copy of their parents National Identification Number NIN for them to be registered.
The police detention facility at Nalufenya in Jinja District continues to generate controversy after Members of Parliament gave conflicting reports after visiting the area on Friday. Nominations for Kagoma County parliamentary by-elections have kicked off today at Kagoma County headquarters in Jinja district. The seat fell vacant in March this year after the Court of Appeal nullified the election of Moses Walyomu for voter bribery. Walyomu had been declared winner of the February 18, 2016 election for Kagoma County with 16,391 votes, followed by Kintu who garnered 14,244.
