Asadu Jjemba, a resident of Kabembe says the deceased is among several NUP supporters who were kidnapped by people driving in a white numberless van during in the night of January 13th, 2021.
The Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, says they have received information about ‘hooligans’ who intend to wreak havoc on voters and businesses in the city during the elections.
“All the 11 guards were arrested and later released after recording statements with PSU. They are being accused of deviating from police operation procedures when they were guarding presidential candidates. The IGP said they disrespected orders of OCs and DPCs,” source said.
According to Masaka Regional Police Spokesperson Muhammad Nsubuga, the suspects were arrested over the last five days. Some directly attacked their opponents while others destroyed election materials and participated in a post-election protests.
Muhammad Nsubuga, the Greater Masaka Regional Police Spokesperson, says they are still pursuing the suspects for their involvement in electoral malpractices. He says they have already summoned the presiding officers from the said polling stations to record statements.
