According to Manana, Umeme has been promising to restore the power supply in vain prompting them to stage the protest to express their dissatisfaction.

Grace Akello, another miller from Moruapesur, says her grinding business has been grounded for a week yet it is his only source of income.

Thomas Ariong, a miller says the power outage has affected his earnings since he is paid per day.

Johnson Isaac Barasa, the UMEME Soroti Service Centre manager, confirmed the power blackout, saying their transformer blew up and they are waiting for its replacement.
