The Rt. Rev. Patrick Gidudu, the Anglican Bishop of Mbale Diocese has announvdd his plans to lead a demonstration over the unfulfilled presidential pledge to relocate Mbale Garage from Church land.
Bishop Gidudu was addressing hundreds of Christians at St. Andrew’s
Cathedral, Mbale Municipality on Easter Sunday.
He urged Abraham Betongyeza , the Elgon Region Police Commander, Isaac Lulaba, the Sironko Resident District Commissioner and his Namisindwa counterpart, Moses Kigai Womoto to reach the president
and remind him about his unfulfilled pledge.
Bishop Gidudu noted during
his consecration as the seventh Bishop of Mbale Diocese at St. Andrew’s
Cathedral in August 2008, President Museveni who was the chief guest promised
to relocate Mbale Garage from the church land.
He said the president directed the former Presidency Minister, Beatrice Wabudeya
to help the church secure the land.
He said to date, nothing has been done, adding that they have made several pleas in vain.

Bishop Gidudu pointed out that the idea of the
demonstration came up because they have talked and talked for decades but their
voices have not been heard.

are over 300 mechanics operating on the church land, which is located between Majanga and Pallisa
road in Industrial division,
Christians applauded the Bishop' s threat to lead a demonstration over
the president's failure to relocate mechanics from the
Sarah Kitui, one of the Christians expressed disappointment over the president's failure to fulfil his promise.
She stated that church leaders and Christians
are stuck, saying they have failed to expand the church because of the mechanics
who are operating illegally on church land.

Police Commander, didn't comment on the Bishop’s speech. He only wished Christians happy Easter Celebrations.
