Frank Magezi, a Special Police Constable attached to Kakumiro Central Police station in Kakumiro district is in trouble for shooting dead a student and injuring two people including a police officer.

He allegedly shot dead Simon Asiimwe 18, a former senior four candidate at St Edward Bukumi and son to Alex Gwazo, a resident of Kakumiro Town council on Sunday evening.

The injured have been identified as Tadeo Sebulime, a police officer and Yowakim Asaba, a civilian. The duo is nursing bullet wounds at Mulago National referral hospital and Mubende hospital respectively.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson told Uganda Radio Network this morning that Magezi had rushed to rescue Ronald Twinomuhangi, a suspected Motorcycle thief who was at the verge of being lynched by Rowdy Boda-boda riders near Kakumiro central police station around 7:30pm on Sunday evening.

Twinomuhangi is suspected to have stolen a motorcycle registration number UDK 387P Bajaj belonging to Yowakim Asaba of Kyanyawawa village.

He was sighted riding the stolen motorcycle prompting Boda-boda riders to pounce. They thumped him into coma near Kakumiro police station.

According to Hakiza, the mob action prompted officers manning Kakumiro police station to swing into action and fired several bullets in the air to disperse the mob.

Unfortunately, the bullets fired by Magezi hit Asiimwe killing him and injuring two others people.
