Jordan Kiiza, the Election Supervisor of Bwizibwera Rutooma town council in Mbarara District is in trouble over suspicion of forging declaration forms.

Kiiza was intercepted on Wednesday evening while allegedly trying to sneak forged declaration forms into the tally center shortly after the conclusion of the local government elections.

He was blocked by the supporters of Hyigen Twogyeirwe Kururagire, the independent candidate for the Mbarara LC V Chairperson’s seat.

They accused Juliet Nabakooba, the coordinator of the NRM candidate, Didas Tabaro for passing over the suspected forged declaration forms to Kiiza.

Kururagire’s agent, Julius Nyesiga accused the rival camp of attempting to tamper with the poll results by sneaking forged declaration forms into the tally center.

Nabakooba denied any wrongdoing, saying she only handed Kiiza genuine declaration forms she had collected from Bwizibwera Rutooma town council.

The Mbarara District Returning Officer declined to comment on the matter, saying it is in the hands of police.

John Rutagiira, the Mbarara District Police Commander, confirmed Kiiza’s arrest, saying they have commenced investigations.

Kururagire decided to run as an independent after losing the NRM primaries to Didas Tabaro.
