Renowned rally driver Hassan Alwi is set to make a thrilling return to the motorsport scene next month, debuting a powerful new Ford Proto in the upcoming Eastern Motor Club (EMC) Jinja Rally 2025. After months of staying off the rally circuit, Alwi is re-entering the sport with a clear message: he is back, and faster than ever.

His entry into the Jinja Rally will also mark his launch into the 2025 National Rally Championship (NRC), a highly competitive calendar that demands top-tier performance. Promising "extensive speed and good competition for all the drivers," Alwi says his new machine will deliver never-before-seen professional racing antics that will thrill fans across the country.

He has also positioned himself as a beacon of hope for aspiring rally drivers, urging them to work hard and sharpen their skills in the sport. "This is a sport of choice," Alwi remarked. "With commitment and professionalism, young drivers can rise to the top." Alwi also emphasized the importance of fan safety during races.

He urged rally enthusiasts to follow safety marshals’ instructions and cheer from designated areas, far from dangerous black spots. “This form of responsibility is crucial for the development and future of rallying,” he said.

Eastern Motor Club President Keez Kagolo welcomed Alwi's return, describing it as a major boost for the club. “He brings both professionalism and talent to the racing fraternity,” said Kagolo, adding that EMC prides itself on being a hub for motorsport development.

Kagolo noted that Alwi’s presence will inspire young racers to not only develop their skills but also upgrade their vehicles to match the latest global standards. “Like any other sport, motorsport requires a stable vision and continuous training to excel,” he added.

The 2025 EMC Jinja Rally will be sponsored by the International University of East Africa and Across the Nile Resort, based in Jinja City. The resort will handle all administrative logistics to ensure smooth coordination of the event. In addition, the Across the Nile Hotel will host a two-kilometer closed-circuit race course in Kitigoma, Njeru Municipality, where drivers will showcase their skills in the high-speed “drags” segment of the competition.
