A young man is in police custody in Kasese
district for killing his mother for denying him Shillings 200 to buy a
cigarette. The suspect is Mbusa Minadabu, a resident of
Kinyamaseke Store cell in Kinyamaseke Town Council in Kasese District.
Minadabu reportedly strangled his 71-year-old
mother, Jane Biira on Friday night for refusing to give him Shillings 200 to
buy a cigarette. It is alleged that Minadabu arrived home around 9:00pm and
found his mother and ground son having supper.
According to the minor, the suspect demanded for Shillings 200, which his mother didn’t have. This infuriated the
suspect forcing his mother to abandon the supper and retreat to her bedroom.
reportedly forced out the minor before he followed his mother in the bedroom. The minor explains that when he returned to the
house, he tried to wake up his grandmother in vain.

Cell LC1, says he immediately rushed to Biira’s home after receiving news of
the heinous act.
He says they started hunting for the suspect and found him in
Kinyamaseke west cell.

The deceased’s aunt, Angellah
Kabugho, says Minadabu has always been a threat to his mother life since
he took on to drugs. She says he has severally been summoned by
family members for mistreating his mother.
“He has been ill behaved not until he killed
his own mother,” Kabugho said.
Alex Kyankaaga, the Officer in Charge of Kinyamaseke Police Station,
says Minadabu is a habitual offender.

He says preliminary findings show
that the suspect killed her mother for failure to give him Shillings 200
Shillings. Biira’s body is lying at Bwera hospital pending postmortem.
