Nansana Municipality Closes Kafunda Road for Works

Nansana Municipality has closed Kafunda road in Nansana Division in Wakiso district to pave way for the road works.  The road was closed this morning following the launch of the road works by Newton Company.

The construction work is expected to last one year. The Nansana Municipal Engineer, Wilber Mukasa, says the road has been impassable yet is the main link to Nansana Municipality and face of Nansana Municipality. 

Mukasa told Uganda Radio Network that they contracted Newton Engineering Company to work on the 1.1 kilometer road at Shillings 1.1 billion.

Mukasa says they have set up a complaints desk for residents to report their concerns to ensure quality works.

Regina Bakitte Nakazzi, the Mayor Nansana Municipality, says they had expected money from Works and Transport Ministry to complete Wamala-Katooke road to help reduce congestion, which hasn’t been provided.

The Wakiso Resident District Commissioner, Rose Kirabira cautions people motorists and vehicles and boda boda riders not to use Kafunda road during the construction period.

Ssematimba Muwada, the chairperson L C II Nabweru South 1 has asked Nansana Municipality engineer to grade Kafunda – Kazzo road, which has been provided as an alternative route.
