The number
of roadside, markets have steadily been growing in Gulu since it attained a city
status on July 1, 2020.
The most affected parts are a stretch along Acholi road, where vendors
display both second hand and new merchandise including shoes, electronics,
clothes and utensils, especially in the evening hours.
The other area is Andrea Olal road in front of Stanbic Bank
where vendors sell all sorts of merchandise and foodstuffs. The businesses go
as far as Don Petrol Station, Cereleno and connect to Ring Road, going to Pece.
Vendors start displaying their items in the morning. By 5 pm, some of the
food items are displayed on the road making it difficult for pedestrians to
