Three Boda boda
riders were killed last evening in Wakiso and Butambala districts during
protests that broke out in response to the arrest of the National Unity
Platform-NUP presidential, candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu.
dead have been identified as Fred Sentamu Junior and Robert Lukwago, both Boda
boda riders in Nansana Municipality. The duo was reportedly shot by LDUs opposite Hippoz
Hotel off Nabweru road.
The third victim has only been identified as Faizal, a
resident of Kyabadaaza trading center in Butambala district. Richard
Lujja, the Nansana East II B Village LC I Chairperson, says the two cyclists
were not part of the protesters when they were gunned down.

father, Fred Sentamu Senior, says his son was walking with his colleague when
they were shot by Local Defense Unit-LDU personnel.

Sentamu, his son went into the Boda boda business when he failed to secure a
job after completing his University studies.
Sentamu has no kind words
for the security personnel who shot his son dead yet he was far away from the
area where the protests were taking place.
Lukwago’s bodies have been taken to Mulago National Referral Hospital for
postmortem while Faizal’s body is at Gombe hospital, according to Katonga
Regional Police Spokesperson, Lydia Tumushabe.
appealed to people to stop rioting, which may attract the wrath of security
personnel. Currently, there is heavy deployment of LDUs in Nansana municipality
to prevent fresh protests.
