The election of PWD Committees commenced on Tuesday, 17th June 2025, across Uganda. This is the second poll in the 2025/2026 General Elections Roadmap, following the Village Older Persons Committee elections.
All Village Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) Committees in Oyam Town Council have gone unopposed in all 35 villages.
The election of PWD Committees commenced on Tuesday, 17th June 2025, across Uganda. This is the second poll in the 2025/2026 General Elections Roadmap, following the Village Older Persons Committee elections.
Ambrose Emuna, the Oyam Town Council Electoral Officer, said that out of 74 nominated PWD candidates, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) secured 71 positions, while the Uganda People's Congress (UPC) took 3. No other political parties or independent candidates registered.
He added that in some areas, elections did not take place due to the absence of PWD candidates.

Patrick Odoc, a resident of Adyang Village in Western Ward, was one of the disabled candidates who went unopposed under the NRM ticket. He said voters trusted his ability to represent them at the town level.

Anna Agang, the female PWD representative to the Oyam District Council who is seeking re-election, said she is following the usual procedures to retain her seat. She hopes to use a new term to complete ongoing efforts aimed at improving the livelihoods of persons with disabilities.
