Unknown assailants raided Nyamanga village in Muhorro Town Council, Kagadi District, strangling one person to death and critically injuring two others. The incident occurred during the early hours of Saturday morning at around 3:30 a.m.

The deceased has been identified as William Murungi, a pupil at Good Hope Foundation School in Muhorro, while the injured are Phionah Ahaisibwe, the deceased’s mother, and her young child, Fred Musinguzi. The injured were rushed and admitted to Doctor’s Clinic in Muhorro Town Council for specialized medical attention.

Available information obtained by Uganda Radio Network (URN) reveals that the assailants raided the home where the trio was sleeping, strangling Murungi to death. The attackers first tied Ahaisibwe’s hands and legs, ordering her not to sound an alarm, and threatening to kill her if she did. They also attempted to strangle Ahaisibwe and her young child, Musinguzi, but she reportedly raised an alarm that attracted area residents.

Asuman Kisembo, the LCI Chairperson for Nyamanga Cell, told Uganda Radio Network (URN) in an interview that area residents responded to Ahaisibwe's screams for help but arrived to find the assailants had already strangled her son to death. He added that by the time they reached the crime scene, the assailants had fled, and there was nothing they could do to save Murungi.

Kisembo condemned the attack and urged the police to conduct a thorough investigation to bring the culprits to justice, stating that the motive of the attack remains unknown.
