A jigger infestation has been reported in Bumbaire Sub County in Bushenyi district.   The most affected are Numba and Bumbaire parishes where some children are reportedly skipping school because of the infestation.

Therestine Bagampangire, the Bumbaire Sub County LC 3 chairperson blames the problem on poor hygienic practices among residents.

Apollo Kakonge, the Executive Director West Ankole Civil Society Forum, says that it is unfortunate that over 60 households are battling the jigger infestation.

Kakonge is worried that the infestation may spread further unless deliberate steps are taken to save the situation as careless practices continue to prevail.
