Second Edition of FUFA Drum Excites Lango Region

Lango Province has summoned about 40 players including Timothy Awany, Allan Okello and Herbert Achai from KCCA FC and Joachim Ojer from URA FC. During first edition of FUFA Drum, Lango Province finished third position with Acholi toping the group, Buganda Province emerged second and Kigezi finishing last.

The second edition of the Fufa Drum tournament has excited soccer lovers in Lango Sub region. 

Launched in Kampala about a week ago, FUFA Drum is a direct initiative of the Federation of Uganda Football Association-FUFA aimed at promoting local footballing talent.

Teams representing 16 provinces will compete in the second edition of FUFA drum.

Lango province is scheduled to take on Buganda Province on March 30th, 2019 at Bishop SS in Mukono district.  

Lango Province has summoned about 40 players including Timothy Awany, Allan Okello and Herbert Achai from KCCA FC and Joachim Ojer from URA FC. 

Daniel Moi, the Lango Province Spokesperson, says the players are already undergoing intensive training in Lira town a head of their opening match in Mukono. 

Moi says they have secured the services of three coaches under the former Uganda Cranes Striker, David Obua to prepare the team.

Denis Hamson Obua, the Ajuri County Member of Parliament has been appointed the Chairperson of Lango Province and tasked to mobilize funds. 

The MP told URN they have embarked on a mobilization drive to secure funds to facilitate the team.  

Obua is optimistic that Lango Province will perform better this time around. Lango Province emerged third in the first edition of FUFA Drum.  

Geoffrey Omara, the Lango Province Fans Association Chairperson has urged soccer lovers to consider offering financial support to support the team. 

According to Omara, football can’t take place without funding. Junior Lucky Akaca, another football fan in Lango, says they are prepared to scoop this year’s FUFA drum trophy. 

Sam Ebuk, the Executive Director SASU Uganda Limited and lead mobiliser for Lango Province, says they have secured 10 buses to ferry their fans to Mukono to support their team.
