10 Bomb Shells Recovered In Wobulenzi Town

Police in Wobulenzi town have recovered 10 bomb shells hidden in the bushes by unknown persons.

They have been discovered hidden in the bushes near the playground of Al Answar Education Center Primary School in Nakasero zone in Wobulenzi.

Noorden Kiwanuka, the LC 1 Chairman of Nakasero zone explains that a resident who was picking herbs sighted devices hidden in the bushes at around 3 pm on Monday and immediately alerted Wobulenzi Police Station.

Kiwanuka says that Police together with a bomb expert rushed to the scene and found that they were shells before they collected them for further investigations.

He says that they suspect that they may have been dumped there by scrap metal dealers after detecting that they were bomb devices.

Twineamazima adds that Police have also embarked on investigating how the devices ended up in the bushes and the suspect who could have dumped them there.

Two weeks ago a farmer discovered an unexploded ordinance in his garden located Kikoma zone in Wobulenzi town council.

Policemen together with bomb experts from Bombo Military Barracks responded and detonated it.

Because of the bombs that were abandoned by the National Resistance Army (NRA) during the war that ushered in the current government in power ended in 1986, several residents die annually and others are injured as a result of bombs exploding in the districts of Luwero and Nakaseke .
