At least 10 goats and 2 cows in Kamu Sub County in Bulambuli district have died due to suspected poisoning. Vincent Kissa, the Kamu Sub county LC III chairperson, says the animals were poisoned to death in two separate incidents.
He explains that the first incident occurred at the home of 65-year-old Makulata, a resident of Kisenyi parish in Kamu Sub County where four goats and one cow were poisoned last week. Kissa says the last incident occurred March 1 in Napeta village in Kamu parish where the 6 goats and one cow belonging to Ismail Maumbe were also poisoned.
According to Kissa, in both cases the animals were under zero grazing, which is practiced in the area. Kissa says a veterinary doctor who examined the animals discovered that they poisoned using Dicrone, a hazardous drug. According to Kissa, as local authorities they will try to investigate and establish those behind the poisoning of livestock in the area.
He has appealed to residents to report to the authorities those behind the act.
