11 Year Old Boy Wanted for Defilment in Amudat

Police in Amudat District are hunting  for a juvenile sherpard of about eleven years for defiling a toddler.

A suspect whose names were withheld is a resident of Auruma village in Kongorok sub county is accused of defiling a toddler of 2 years old on Wednesday.

It alleged that the juvenile  shepherd met the toddler at their home and took her in the nearby bush  50 meters  away where he proceeded to have aggravated sexual intercourse with her on the Wednesday evening.

Michael Longole,  the Mt Moroto Regional Police Spokesperson said that the toddler was rescued by neighbours who heard her crying in the bush.

Longole noted that the male juvenile vanished from the scene after seeing neighbours coming.

He said that a team of detectives visited the scene and the parents of the victim and perpetrator were  established.

Longole said that they the both parents and the eye witnesses have recorded  relevant statements. He added that the victim was taken for medical examination.

"The outcome of our investigation will be availed to the public in due course. We highly condemn this criminal act," Longole said. 

In the Pokot tribe in Amudat district, girls as young as 10 years old are considered ready for marriage. The girls are married off as soon as they are done with the female genital mutilation, which is one of the harmful practices that is a passage into womanhood.
