The criminals that include 101 males and 14 females were arrested during an impromptu operation conducted jointly by the Uganda Peoples Defense Forces-UPDF and the police and other sister security agencies on Tuesday night in various areas within Igayaza town council and Kikwaya trading center in Kikwaya sub county among other areas.

The police in Kakumiro have arrested 115 suspected criminals
terrorizing the district.
The criminals that include 101 males and 14 females were arrested
during an impromptu operation conducted jointly by the Uganda Peoples Defense
Forces-UPDF and the police and other sister security agencies on Tuesday in various areas within Igayaza town council, and Kikwaya trading center in Kikwaya
sub county among other areas.
Some of the criminals were found with knives and pangas while others were found being accommodated in uncompleted
structures while smoking marijuana in groups.
The operation was sanctioned following public outcry
following persistent raids on the residents especially the business community.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson says the suspects are undergoing thorough
screening before they are arraigned before the court.
The arrests bring to 179, the total number of suspected criminals
arrested in the district within two days.
On Monday, 64 suspected criminals were arrested in
the district. They included 45 males and 19 females.
They were arrested
during a joint security operation conducted by the police, the Uganda peoples
defense forces-UPDF soldiers and other sister security agencies. The criminals
were arrested from within Mwintazige town council.
