Twelve people have been arrested in Ibanda district for failure to construct toilet facilities in their homes.
Those arrested were the family heads of those particular homesteads that were found to be using bushes or nearby streams as places of convenience.
In an operation conducted today morning, a team of officials led by Gerald Yehamye, the Health Inspector of Bufunda and Kagongo divisions, a total of 12 people were picked up.
According to Yehamye, the affected families had earlier on ignored warnings from the municipal authorities to have the facilities constructed.
He revealed that more family heads are to be arrested in operations to follow in the month of April 2018.
The operation was conducted in collaboration with the police to get rid of families that have no toilet facilities.
According to the Municipality's health department, the divisions of Bufunda and Kagongo have got over 200 families without toilet facilities.
Those Arrested are:Anania Kyakaroro, Moses Mucunguzi, Lawrence Ngabirano, Edward Namanya, Alex Tukundane and Vicent Kabazeyo among others.
Ibanda district police commander Rodgers Chebene confirms the arrest saying that the suspects are being held at Ibanda police station as arrangements are being made to arraign them before court.
