Eguma planned to sell Andama's head to the Chinese workers constructing Vurra – Oraba road to raise money for scholastic materials and food.
Police said Eguma was arrested on Tuesday shortly after beheading Savior Andama, the son of his aunt Jesca Drakuru. Drakuru is the sister of Eguma’s father, Stephen Ojaku. Ojaku works as a casual labourer in Sudan.
The North Western Police spokesperson Josephine Angucia said on interrogation, Eguma confessed he had beheaded his nephew.
Eguma explained to the Police that he had conceived the idea of beheading his nephew because his grandmother used to warn children against playing by the road side by claiming evil people would capture them, cut off their heads, and sell them to the Chinese road construction workers.
Angucia said the investigations found that after beheading his nephew, Eguma went with the head to Ovujo trading centre where the Chinese are stationed with the intent of selling to them Andama's head. However once there, Eguma lacked the courage to approach them and returned with the head which he later hid in a bush.

Andama's headless body was discovered in the house in a pool of blood by relatives. The relatives had come to summon the two boys for breakfast.
Eguma was then confronted by the relatives upon his return from the trading centre. When tasked to explain where his nephew was, Eguma confessed he had beheaded him.
Police rushed to the scene upon receiving information of the murder and prevented angry relatives from lynching Eguma. He was first detained at Nyadri Police station before he was transferred to Koboko Police station. He is still held there.
In his statement to Police, Eguma admitted he had beheaded the toddler to raise money to buy scholastic materials and food. He explained that since his parents separated went to live in Kampala and Sudan, he had been left in the care of a grandmother who did not have enough money to look after him.
