18 New COVID-19 Cases Confirmed

According to the health ministry, all persons who travelled with the positive case on July 5 from India are under observation and have been tested once for the disease. The positive case was also in quarantine by the time the virus was detected.
Another 18 cases of COVID-19 have been recorded from samples that were tested on Monday, pushing Uganda's caseload to 971. Ten of the confirmed cases are from contacts of positive cases while seven were truck drivers. One returnee of Indian origin also tested positive.

Meanwhile, the government also blocked the entry of 27 truck drivers whose samples tested positive at the point of entry on Monday.  They include 24 Kenyans, two Congolese and 1 Eritrean.

The confirmed cases were part of 2,414 samples that were tested yesterday for the disease. As of today, a total of 896 cases have been discharged in the country. There are 202 active cases.
