Kikuube Police are holding 23 drivers attached to
China Railway Seventh group Company Limited for lynching their colleague. The suspects lynched David Otieno 35, a driver
with the same company around 9pm on Tuesday evening at Kyenjojo Village in
Kaseeta parish in Kabwoya Sub County in Kikuube district.
The suspects were rounded up at the company
site shortly after the incident. Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region police
spokesperson, says the suspects ganged up against Otieno accusing him of
reporting them to their superiors for siphoning fuel from Company trucks.
According to Hakiza, by the time police rushed to rescue Otieno,
he had breathed his last. He says the suspects are locked up at Kikuube Central Police station. He says the
suspects will appear in court for murder once police investigations are
complete.
Police has handed over the deceased’s body to Hoima Hospital Mortuary for postmortem. China Railway
Seventh group Company Limited is currently upgrading Hohwa,
Nyairongo-Kyarushesha, Butoole, Kizirafumbi roads in Kikuube district.
According
to the penal code, a person who participates in mob justice and kills another,
commits murder and is liable to suffer death once convicted.
