3 Guards Arrested for Siphoning Fuel from MTN Mast

Three security guards have been arrested in Lwengo district for siphoning fuel from an MTN mast.
Three security guards attached G4S Security Group have been arrested in Lwengo for alleged theft of fuel.

Jimmy Agelo (40), Juma Ajok (28), Matia Nsamba, all security guards, are accused of siphoning fuel from the MTN mast at Kisekka Hill, in Lwengo district.

Police preliminary investigations indicate that trio had siphoned over 19 litres of diesel from one of the generators at the mast.

Noah Sserrunjoji, Southern Region Police Spokesperson, says that the trio was arrested following a tip off by concerned residents.

Sserunjoji says that police investigations into the matter have already kicked off adding that when investigations are completed the trio will be charged with theft of fuel.

Serrunjoji however, decried the increasing cases of siphoning fuel from masts and transformer vandalism in Lwengo.

He cites the most recent case of Peter Ssentamu who was electrocuted at Kaganda village, Kingo Sub County in Lwengo District last month.

A recent report released by UMEME Southern Region indicates that at least 50 transformers have been vandalized in Masaka Region in a space of only 7 months since last year.
