A joint
security operation by the Police and army has led to the arrest of over 30 suspected gang members
of the Kasoro criminal group. The group is responsible for terrorizing residents
of Lubaga and Nansana municipalities in Wakiso district.
The suspects
were apprehended in two intelligence-led operations in Kampala, targeting Katooke A and Katooke B,
Wamala Parish in Nansana Municipality, and Rubaga, specifically at Monalisa
Bar.
According to

include Kawoya Vincent, Kitayibwa Wycliffe, Muhammad Ali, Abdil Wolly, and
Eriya Kula who have been wreaking havoc in Lubaga areas.
In a
separate operation last night, police arrested over 25 suspects in the Katooke
area of Nansana Municipality. According to the police, the suspects were found
in possession of various exhibits, including housebreaking instruments and
suspected stolen items.
Police said
that most of the suspects arrested are members of the notorious Kasolo gang, a renowned city gang, which is linked to various crimes, including robberies,
phone snatching, and bag thefts.

During the operation,
the police recovered various exhibits; including marijuana, breaking implements,
and other incriminating evidence. The suspects have been charged accordingly
and are currently in detention, awaiting court proceedings.
Several other criminal
gangs have previously operated in various parts of Kampala and its
neighbourhood. They include among others the famous Kifeesi, which was
operating in Kampala and Mukono based in Katwe-Kinyoro, Bad Life, B13, XOI,
Kasolo Boys, Happy Street and Naguru Arrow Boys.
Most of the gangs were operating in slummy
areas targeting business people returning from work. Some of the gangs were
busted by security giving residents a sigh of relief.
