SP Nelson Tumushime, the Rwenzori East Police Spokesperson, stated that the operation was prompted by a surge in cases involving house and shop break-ins, theft of property, and the consumption and trade of marijuana, particularly within Bwera and its surrounding areas.
Rwenzori East Police spokesperson SP Nelson Tumushime says police working with other security agencies are intesfying operations against criminals in the district.
At least 34 suspected criminals have been arrested in an operation conducted by Police in Bwera, Kasese District.
Nelson Tumushime, the Rwenzori East Police Spokesperson, stated that the operation was prompted by a surge in cases involving house and shop break-ins, theft of property, and the consumption and trade of marijuana, particularly within Bwera and its surrounding areas.
After screening, 21 suspects were found to be habitual offenders. Tumushime says these were arraigned before Bwera magistrate’s court, charged and remanded to Bwerra government prison until January 29th.

Tumushime said these particular arrests stemmed from the Police Community Policing Program conducted across various locations in the district.
He encouraged the public to always support police efforts through timely sharing of information to enable quick responses to criminal activities.
