44 suspects who have been in detention at Masindi Central Police Station have been relocated and quarantined at Masindi Public Primary School. The suspects were relocated on Wednesday evening.

Deo Obura, the Albertine Region Police Commander-RPC, says that they took a decision after a police detective attached to Masindi police station tested positive for COVID-19.

On Saturday, the detective tested positive for COVID-19 during the on-going Rapid Assessment Survey being conducted by the health ministry.

The situation compelled the police top management to withdraw and replace all the 104 officers who were manning the police station and they have since been quarantined at the police barracks.

Since the COVID-19 case was confirmed in the district, up to 536 people believed to have come in contact with the patient have been followed up by health officials in the district.
