Police in Kamuli district have arrested nine suspects in
connection to the murder of 17 -year old, Tapenensi Taweeka, a S4 student of
The suspects who police declined to reveal their identities are being detained at Kamuli central police station.
The deceased was allegedly leaving school on April 22nd when unknown
men ganged raped and strangled her to death.
Eyewitnesses filed a complaint at Kamuli central police station,
however, the suspects ran away from the scene of crime with the body. It was
recovered dumped in a wetland, along Bulegeya road in Kitayundwa Sub County on
Thursday last week.
A post-mortem report released at Kamuli general hospital mortuary indicates that Taweeka died of strangulation.
Thomas Isabirye, the deceased’s father alleges that some of the suspects are
Busoga North Police Spokesperson, Michael Kasadha, says that that, the suspects
were arrested from the districts of Jinja and Kamuli.
Kasadha however, adds that the prime suspect is still at large and
police is hunting for him.
