A 22-year-Old Found Hanging Dead In Moroto

Police in Moroto district are investigating circumstances under which a 22-year-old woman was found hanging dead inside her house.

Paskal Kodet, aged 22 years old, and a resident of Nakapelimen ward in South Division was found dead on Wednesday morning inside her house.

The matter was brought to the attention of the Police by Paul Nakwel businessman in the Campshwahili Juu ward.

Nakwel said that the deceased locked herself inside the house where she hanged herself using a rope. Nakwel noted they had to break the door of the house only to find Kodet’s body hangling on the rope tied on top of the roof.

Michael Longole, the Mt. Moroto Regional Police Spokesperson confirmed the incident saying that the matter was reported and a file opened vide SD 08/7/2024 in Campshwahili Police post.

He said that a team led by the officer in charge of Campshwahili accompanied by the homicide desk visited the scene of the crime.

Longole noted that the preliminary findings indicate that the deceased has been always drunk showing signs of stress. He said that they have launched  investigations into the suicidal matter.

Longole noted that statements have been recorded from the complainant and some neighbors. "It was also found to be a complete suicide and the relatives refused the body to be taken for postmortem. However, the inquiries are ongoing and the public will be informed of the progress," said Longole.
