A grandmother from Kisalosalo zone in the Kampala City suburbs of Kyebando is in trouble in connection to the death of her grandson to death.

Joyce Seguya Nakiganda is locked up at Kiira Road Police Station for allegedly killing 3 and half-year-old Emmanuel Mutabazi.

Nakiganda’s neighbor, Joan Okia told Uganda Radio Network –URN that she heard the deceased crying around 9pm on Friday night and tried to intervene but was turned away when she knocked the suspect’s door, saying she was disciplining her grandson.

According to Okia, Nakiganda has been very strict on the deceased.

John Oboth, another neighbor says he came out of his house when he heard the child crying and thought it was the usual fight of a grandmother and her child.

Geoffrey Kasheija, the Kisalosalo Kyebando LC I Chairperson told our reporter that Nakiganda informed him that her grandson was unwell and needed medical help.

Kasheija says that when they learnt that the boy had died they called police for intervention.

He urged residents to always cooperate to resolve such problems before they get out of hand.

The Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigire told URN that Nakiganda strangled her grandchild to death.
