Abim Crime Preventer Lynched Over Theft

Joseph Kabila died on his way to Kanu HC11 in Abim Sub County in Saturday. He was accused of stealing two goats belonging to Christopher Omara, a resident of North Village in Gereger parish, Abim Sub County.

The coordinator of crime preventers in Morulem in Abim district has been lynched by angry mob after he was found with two stolen goats. 

Joseph Kabila died on his way to Kanu HC11 in Abim Sub County in Saturday.  He was accused of stealing two goats belonging to Christopher Omara, a resident of North Village in Gereger parish, Abim Sub County. 

Robert Katuramu, the Abim District Police Commander, says information obtained from the ground indicates that Kabila has been a notorious cattle thief in the area.

 

He however noted that  Omara has been arrested to help in police investigations.

The death of Kabila, has generated mixed reactions from Abim residents. Julius Amunyo says Kabila's death is regrettable since he was not given a fair hearing. Another resident, Patrick Ogwang, says he deserved it.

 

Ogwang, who claims Kabila stole his cow, says only such actions sends lessons to thieves terrorizing the area.

DPC Katuramu says cattle thefts are in the district. Katuramu, who is just weeks in Abim district, notes that it's the first case of mob action in Abim district.
