Most government workers at Buvuma district only work for two days a week, URN has learnt. According to information obtained by URN, the government employees only work on Tuesday and Wednesday and leave on Thursday.

Buvuma district was curved out of Mukono and became operational on July 1st, 2010. The Island district is found in Lake Victoria. On Tuesday, our reporter visited the district headquarters at Kitamiro village.

However, only the LC V Chairperson, Chief Administrative Officer and four other members were around because of an urgent meeting. The offices of the District Health Officer and District Education Officer were open but only their secretaries were available.

Most of the remaining offices were under lock and key. At the entrance of the district headquarters is a biometric machine, which keeps the records of attendance and time of arrival. However, the machine is dysfunctional since the districts lacks power.

It took about three hours before some of the workers started arriving and settled in their offices since they left on Thursday last week. Some of the residents told URN that the officials only work on Tuesday and Wednesday and leave for their respective homes on Thursday.

The area councilor, Hussein Dhamuzungu Ngobi and who Charles Mayanja, one of the residents, said the workers report around 2PM on Tuesday and leave on Thursday.
