Unknown assailants have gunned down Ali Kawesi, a cashier at OBK Rice Millers in Jinja district. The assailants, who are said to have been riding on a motorcycle, gunned down Kawesi on Wednesday night as he was leaving the rice mill found along Elliot road.

Mariam Namaganda, an eyewitness who was walking on the opposite side of the mill, says one of the assailants was dressed in police uniform. Namaganda says Chris Obokomoi, who was also shot in the leg, is the one who led the assailants into the mill.

Obokomoi denies being part of the assailants, saying they shot him to obstruct the car that was trailing them.

Kawesi's body is lying at Jinja Main Referral Hospital mortuary waiting for postmortem whereas Obokomoi is receiving treatment in the Emergency ward on handcuffs in the same hospital.
