Acholi Province FUFA DRUM team is in panic over missing goal posts at Pece War Memorial Stadium. The team is preparing to host Bukedi Province in a cut-throat quarter final return leg match over the weekend at its home ground, Pece War Memorial Stadium.

On Monday, the team entered the stadium as it embarked on preparations to stay in the game after sharing loan goals with Bukedi Province last weekend and found goal posts missing

Martin Ojara Mapenduzi, the Gulu district chairperson, says the goal posts from the stadium went missing during the renovation of the stadium last year in preparation for the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association tournament.

He says the interior chain link also went missing alongside other fencing materials during the Shillings 360 million renovations.

Since the renovation, the stadium has been operating with borrowed goal posts from Police Primary School. Mapenduzi says Police Primary school retrieved its goal posts last week leaving the stadium with nothing.

On Monday evening, chaos broke out at the stadium as a group of rowdy youths attempted to forcefully erect goal posts made of logs from Eucalyptus trees at the stadium.

Martin Ojara Mapenduzi rushed to the stadium and blocked the angry youth saying the district has budgeted Shillings 4.5 Million to replace the goal posts this financial year.

Mapenduzi blames veteran FIFA Referee Denis Ojwee, the Gulu district Sports Officer, Aldo Otto and district Engineer, Sam Nyeko for the loss of the stadium property.

Ojwee has distanced himself from the saga, saying he joined the renovation after the goal post had gone missing.
