Acholi Province Football team fans are calling for the resignation of the Elephant's head coach, Peter Onen after the 1-0 away loss to Bukedi Province at the Palisa Hospital ground last Saturday.

The fans accuse Onen of poor tactical formation and team motivation which has often earned the Acholi Province team either a draw or defeat in the on-going Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) Drum tournament.

Furious fans took to social media lambasting Onen to step aside ahead of the do or die return leg tie with Bukedi at Pece War Memorial stadium in Gulu on Saturday July 7, 2018 or the team risks exiting the contest.

A cross section of the fans expressed confidence in Geoffrey Akena, the team's assistant coach who they applause for masterminding most victories recorded by Acholi Province in the Drum tournament.

The loss to Bukedi Province in Pallisa provoked the Acholi fans base who turned unruly against their head coach and later against each other demanding a balance in the first eleven team selection.

However, there was also an uproar about the host's bare pitch which fans condemned as a health hazard adding that it's a valid excuse which FUFA officials must address in subsequent contests.

Amuria district Woman Member of Parliament Susam Ameru has pledged Uganda Shillings 200,000 for each goal Acholi Province team scores in a bid to hype the throat-cutting return leg quarterfinals knock-out.

The Acholi Province team manager Richard Opira meanwhile has threatened to resign and quit football management role for the next 45 years should his team fail to overturn Bukedi's one goal margin.

The elephants today commenced their rigorous training at Pece Stadium ahead of their fierce encounter with visiting Bukedi Province on Saturday in Gulu town as Busoga hosts Ankole Province and Bugisu travels away to West Nile Province and Kampala hosts Buganda in the quarter finals played on a two leg basis.

The Drum Competitions Department has set 6th October 2018 as the date for the final to be played in Kasese district as FUFA earmarked Uganda Shillings 100 million prize money for the overall winner.
