Patrick Kityo, the Adjumani grade one magistrate has refused to hand over office as directed by the High court chief registrar. On July 29th 2014, Paul Gadenya Wolimbwa, the chief registrar High court transferred Kityo from Adjumani grade one magistrate to Kiryandongo. In his letter, Gadenya instructed Kityo to report to his new duty station on August 18th.
On August 19th, John Agaba, the Moyo chief magistrate who supervises the Adjumani magistrate’s court traveled to witness the hand over exercise in vain. Kityo exchanged unpleasant words with the Agaba and said that he was under instructions from a higher office he didn’t reveal not to leave Adjumani court.
Kityo later confirmed to the security committee chaired by the Resident District Commissioner Adjumani on 24th August that he was transferred to Kiryandongo court but claimed that his transfer was revoked. He didn’t table any proof to substantiate his claims. He said those who have been celebrating his transfer should wait since he is still around.
But John Agaba, the Moyo chief magistrate says he is not aware of the cancellation of Kityo’s transfer. He insists that the transfer took immediate effect on August 18th. Paul Gadenya Wolimbwa, the chief registrar High court has not yet commented as he couldn't be reached by our reporter.
