Theophilus Obua, the representative of Abia Sub County in the District Council has petitioned the State House Anti-Corruption Unit demanding for a special investigation into the matter.
Alebtong District leaders are on the spot for allegedly spending more 500 million shillings on non-existing projects.
The money is said to have been spent during the 2017/2018 financial year.

Obua says that the district planned to drill two boreholes at Aminomuge village, Awei Sub County and Bediworo village, Abia Sub County all at the cost of 25 million shillings each.

Others are the rehabilitation of six boreholes at Adagnii village, Olwinyipii village, all in Awei Sub County, Abura village in Abako Sub County, Baya village, Omoro trading Centre all in Omoro Sub County at the cost of about 27 million shillings.
Obua said that the district claimed to have spent over 200 million shillings to repair about 30 broken-down water sources including boreholes and protected springs yet they have never been repaired.
In education department, more than 63M shillings is alleged to have been spent in procuring and supplying three desks to Amugu Quran P.7, Amugu Sub County, Amuria P.7, Aloi Sub County, Awelo-Kuricok P.7, Omarari P.7 all in Omoro Sub County. Obua says that the desks were never supplied.

Obua notes that the district also claimed to have used over 40 million shillings to construct two classroom blocks at Angem P.7, completed construction of two classroom block at the same school and completed construction of two classroom block at Telela P.7.
According to Obua, in health department, more than 26 Million Shillings is alleged to have been embezzled, including 27million shillings meant for the construction of the Out Patient Department at Apala Health Centre III.
A URN reporter visited Bediworo village, in Abia Sub County where the district claimed to have drilled a borehole and found no borehole. Residents still fetch water from unprotected spring.
Peter Okello, LCI Chairperson Bediworo Village said no borehole was drilled in 2018 adding that they are currently fetching water from Apuuc unprotected spring.
Ben Ogwete Otim, the Alebtong District Chief Administrative officer said some of the planned projects were pushed to the current financial year.
Ogwete cited a borehole at Aminomuge village, Awei Sub County which was instead drilled in a neighbouring village.
Ogwete admits that anomalies were made in the implementation of some projects, but the matter is being investigated and managed administratively.
