A police officer in Alebtong district is in trouble for shooting and injuring an elderly woman. The suspect is Augustine Apenyo Apunyu, a police officer attached to Apala Police Outpost in Alebtong district.
He is wanted for shooting and injuring 62-year-old Mildred Auma, a resident of Alango village in Apala Sub County during a clash between residents and National Forestry Authority-NFA officials on Saturday morning.

Apunyu reportedly opened gunfire to disperse residents protesting attempts by the National Forestry Authority to evict them from a chunk of land measuring 238 acres.
It came after a team of NFA officials led by Harriet Atim, the NFA Lango sector manager tried to stop residents from cultivating a disputed piece of land said to be part of Epor Forest Reserve.
NFA has repeatedly tried to evict residents from the disputed land since 2013 in vain. The land is home to more than 185 households.
