Police in Amolatar District is investigating the Acting District engineer over alleged diversion of fuel.

Robert Okidi is accused of diverting fuel worth 7 Million Shillings meant for the construction of Aromi- Abarikori road.  His problems stemmed from a report dated by the District Internal Auditor which stated that the fuel meant for grading, drainage and spot improvement was drawn from Fahaab Energy Ltd and consumed but no work was done.

In a letter dated October 21 2021 and addressed to the District CID officer, Geoffrey Ocen, the District LCV Chairperson said the police should investigate Okidi.

“In the interest of service delivery, this letter is to inform you to commence investigation on the said road and forward the file to the relevant authority for appropriate action. In this process, this office is presenting to you the Ag. District Engineer Robert Okidi as a key officer who can aid in the investigations,” the letter reads in part.

Ocen says that the engineer lied in his report that the road works were completed and yet the road is impassable.

When contacted, Okidi disputed the allegations saying that the road was not in their work plan.

He added that the audit report is subject to review before action is taken.

//Cue in: “What I know…

Cue out: … implementation of the action.”//

Okidi has recorded statements at police as investigation commences.
