Jinja LCV Chairperson, Titus Kisambira has disagreed with the
Lands Minister, Betty Amongi over the appointment of a new Chairperson of the
district land board.
Amongi, in a December 2nd letter to Jinja Resident District Commissioner Eric
Sakwa, nullified David Musenze’s appointment questioning the
manner in which David Musenze replaced Ndiko Ngobi.
"A serving member of the land committee cannot simply be taken on as board
chairperson. As per regulations, and as a nominee, his name would first be
forwarded for confirmation by relevant officials at the ministry," Amongi
However, Kisambira argues that this is a trivial matter that doesn’t
warrant intervention of a government minister.
According to Kisambira, Amongi has bigger pending national problems to address
rather than meddle in Jinja local affairs.
Musenze alleges that he has neither seen nor received a copy of Amongi's
directive instructing him to step aside.
Musenze, who was named new land board boss a week earlier, was secretly sworn-in
in the office of the Chief Administrative Officer on November 26.
