Jinja LCV Chairperson, Titus Kisambira has disagreed with the Lands Minister, Betty Amongi over the appointment of a new Chairperson of the district land board.

Amongi, in a December 2nd letter to Jinja Resident District Commissioner Eric Sakwa, nullified David Musenze’s appointment questioning the manner in which David Musenze replaced Ndiko Ngobi.

"A serving member of the land committee cannot simply be taken on as board chairperson. As per regulations, and as a nominee, his name would first be forwarded for confirmation by relevant officials at the ministry," Amongi argued.

However, Kisambira argues that this is a trivial matter that doesn’t warrant intervention of a government minister.

According to Kisambira, Amongi has bigger pending national problems to address rather than meddle in Jinja local affairs.

Musenze alleges that he has neither seen nor received a copy of Amongi's directive instructing him to step aside.

Musenze, who was named new land board boss a week earlier, was secretly sworn-in in the office of the Chief Administrative Officer on November 26.

William Kanyesigye, the Jinja CAO affirms that he presided over the swearing-in ceremony of Musenze and also confirms receiving the letter that equally stops the land board from having any further sittings until a new chairperson is legally appointed.
